Flowers Series
I have always found a particular pleasure in painting flowers, perhaps it is the combination of fragility and beauty that has inspired me. Flowers have been the earliest object in mankind’s history that have been collected and admired purely for their beauty (form and scent), without having any other function. Among my ‘paintings-to-do’ list there are always at least a half-dozen flower subjects. Most of the time you can find a little creature or animal between the flowers, sometimes in camouflaged or in hiding. Some of my earliest paintings have been flowers. I painted ‘Borage’ as well as ‘Floating Flowers’ sometime around 1998, Frog and flowers is from 2005, while the paint of ‘Water Lilies by Night’ is still fresh (2018).
Mat 6:28-29 …. Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
