This work was supposed to be a study for a much larger work to be executed in oil on canvas. The canvas is still waiting, as I got carried away in the execution of this detailed and emotional work. Depicted is the Cathedral of Léon (Spain), situated on the Camino pilgrimage. I spent quite some time inside, coming back multiple times to this cathedral while recovering from an unsuspected illness. The stained glass windows of this cathedral are amazing and among the most beautiful to be found in Europe. It is a place for worship and where the soul comes to heal after the body has recovered.
The scene depicts the fragility of us human beings, yet we are uplifted by the power of Life. In our times of suffering, we are carried in God’s hands, as are those who show compassion and support to us. The Holy Spirit spreads His wings in protection and a golden Grace abounds. On the right is Donji, a protective spirit that follows me in life and in my arts, reaching out to handover a piece of Grace it has captured between his arms. The Saints bear witness from their enlightened positions.
All bow for the Grace of God,
Amen
