My torso series is both an experiment and evolution. I wanted to use a single pose to express a multitude of different thoughts and emotions, whilst experimenting with lines, shadows, shading and colour to make each realisation unique and individual. The two questions I wanted answered were 1) whether each work would be sufficiently unique and different, and 2) whether each work would be isolated, or if a storyline would form, linking each work together.

This experiment naturally led to an evolution, from the most stylized representation (I – Sea – Mountains) to the most exuberant (I – Sea – Change). I love to see these works side by side, exploring a sequence of increased exposure and depth as you dig deeper into the layers of a human being. In this respect, the series also represents a personal evolution from physical strength, to freedom, dreams & opportunity, pride and finally transformation “Coming back to life”.
