Corked

Full Screen

I am a bottled up poet
with a husky bark
a very private poet
only you as my decanter
can exude my incantation

p s
You no longer ask for my poems....
so I bottle them up until you pop my cork

Scream without sound

Artists need an audience. To go without is as talking in space. Without air, their is no medium to carry the sound waves. All is silent, no matter how loud you shout. It is the same with art, without audience there is no medium to absorb, carry and spread the intentions and emotions of the artist. Artists do not wish for their creations to be captive on paper, on canvas or in bronze, they want their creations to live in the souls of people.

And yet, many artists find it difficult to face their audience. It is not per sé that artists are introverts, but the creative expressions of an artist create vulnerability. It is as if you can look inside the artist’s heart and see his inner being. To meet your audience examining your art work is like standing in front of class naked.

It is for this reason that artists thrive on having a small inner circle of trusted friends, beloveds and muses, to share an early version of a new work, or a new idea, for support and positive criticism. Without those who we trust with our artistic souls, we would bottle up and keep our creative forces inside. We would become like Munch’s Scream[1], the loudest howl of the soundless soul.
